This event is organized by the Society for Conservation, Interpretation and Research of Berthier and its Islands (SCIRBI) in collaboration with the Société d’ornithologie de Lanaudière. Join NCC for an ornithological outing targeting rural birds on Grace Island in the archipelago of Lake Saint-Pierre.

About Ile de Grâce

Ile de Grâce is located in the Lac Saint-Pierre. It hosts rare species such as the Least Bittern, the Bobolink and the Short-eared Owl.

What you will be doing

Join NCC staff and our partners to help with conducting bird counts on Grace Island and enjoy a day of hiking!

Why you will love it

Join us for a day on beautiful Grace Island to discover the ecological richness of the property and the host of rare species found in Quebec. This is a great opportunity to observe several different habitats and avian fauna: silver maple, aspen, agricultural meadows, marshes, swamps and riparian habitats.

Participants are invited to contact Alexandre Nicole of SCIRBI for more information ( Output is limited to 25 participants depending on the capacity of the barge. The exit is open to all, but priority is given to the members of the Society of Ornithology of Lanaudière, because it helps to defray the costs for the barge. $ 5 per person for the crossing. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Activity postponed to Sunday June 10, in case of rain. Meeting point at 8:30 AM in the SCIRBI parking lot (46°05'05.3"N, 73°09'51.6"W) located on road 158, at the end of Berthierville going toward the Saint-Ignace-de-Loyola Ferry. At the intersection of Chemin des Trois tours. Ticks could be present. Poison Ivy is present in certain places.
