Inventories and Monitoring
Join us for a special event all about the birds! Grab your binoculars for a morning birding tour of the Napier Lake Ranch Conservation Area which supports a large diversity of iconic grassland species. Following the tour we will be installing a number of Bluebird boxes to increase the availability of nesting sites for these beautiful birds. To cap it all off we will also have associate professor Matt Reudink from the Thompson Rivers University giving a special talk about his extensive work with our feathered friends.

More Information
Napier Lake Ranch Conservation Area, south of Kamloops, is a mosaic of native grassland habitats. Located along a flyway for many bird species, Napier Lake Ranch occupies an important transition zone from grasslands to Douglas-fir forests. This variety of habitats makes it an ideal corridor for animals who migrate to different areas between summer and winter. Thanks to the conservation-minded family who has maintained the site, cows, grouse, birds of prey and other wildlife co-exist on this important linkage between other protected lands.
What you will be doingParticipants together with a few experts will first navigate Napier Lake Ranch in search of birds. Afterwards, they will help install bluebird boxes on fence posts. During lunch, Professor Matt Reudink will be giving a special bird presentation.
Why you will love itYou will get the chance to discover a range of fascinating birds in an ecosystem that is rapidly disappearing from British Columbia. This is also a great opportunity to hear from an expert on bird evolution, ecology, migration, and much more!
