Inventories and Monitoring
NCC is looking for proactive volunteers with an interest in nature to join a stewardship committee in charge of surveillance and long-term ecological monitoring NCC’s properties in the Clarendon area.
Note: the date of the event is simply the deadline for expressing your interest in joining the committee. After that date, the NCC Outaouais team will connect with volunteers to choose a convenient date and location for the first information session.

This area is located near the shores of the Ottawa River approximately 90 km west of the City of Gatineau within the boundaries of the Municipality of Clarendon and the Municipality of Davidson, MRC Pontiac. Significant natural habitats in the Clarendon area include alvars, exceptional forest ecosystems, Blanding’s turtle habitat, muskell and geology, large wetlands in connection with the Ottawa River, and more than 1.5 km of shoreline along the river. In addition, the majority of the territory is based on marble formations that are very interesting for rare plants. There are also some of the largest populations for some listed calcicole species. What you will be doing
The role of the members of the stewardship committee will be explained during the information session (date and location to be determined). Participants will be introduced to NCC's stewardship activities, such as surveillance of protected properties and monitoring of rare species and their habitats. Why you will love it
The properties protected by NCC contain exceptional ecosystems and natural habitats for flora and wildlife. This is an opportunity to contribute to the conservation of these natural ecosystems by monitoring sensitive areas and biological targets. Learn to identify significant species of the region through field trips, and discover for yourself the natural jewels of the Ottawa Valley!Questions?
