About Clarendon (Bristol)

This extensive 1,380 hectare (3,408 ac.) property is located near the shores of the Ottawa River, approximately 13 km west of the Bristol, within the Municipality of Clarendon. Significant natural habitats in the area include alvars, temperate forests, large wetlands in connection with the Ottawa River, and more than 1.5 km of shoreline along the river, attracting species like the Blanding’s turtle, monarch butterfly and Canada warbler. In addition, the majority of the region is based on marble formations that host various rare plants, including some of the largest populations of calcicole vegetation.

What you will be doing

The role of the members of the stewardship committee will be explained during the information session (date and location to be determined). Participants will be introduced to NCC's stewardship activities, such as surveillance of protected properties and monitoring of rare species and their habitats.

Why you will love it

The properties protected by NCC contain exceptional ecosystems and natural habitats for flora and wildlife. This is an opportunity to contribute to the conservation of these natural ecosystems by monitoring sensitive areas and biological targets. Learn to identify significant species of the region through field trips, and discover for yourself the natural jewels of the Ottawa Valley!
