Craven Christmas Bird Count
December 15th, 2018, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Craven (Regina), Saskatchewan
Inventories and Monitoring
Get outside with NCC this winter as we join forces with the Christmas Bird Count (CBC) and help complete the Craven survey routes! The Craven Christmas Bird Count is just one of many that will be happening across North America this winter. Learn more about the CBC project here. We will get to see NCC’s Big Valley, Valley View, and Colvin properties in their beautiful winter glory!
We will travel by vehicle throughout a portion of the count circle and record the birds that we see along the way. Saskatchewan CBC’s also document mammals, so we will record any mammals seen as well. For some extra fun bring along your skis or snowshoes to access some harder to reach spots! This is a great way to get outside this winter, have some fun and hopefully see new birds! Any level of bird identification skill is welcome.
If you are interested in carpooling (providing a ride or looking for a ride), please add your name to the list here!

Craven is a village located northeast of the town of Lumsden in the beautiful and scenic Qu’Appelle Valley. This area is home to a diverse array of plant of wildlife and is a priority for conservation efforts. What you will be doing
Participants will count and record each bird species observed throughout the day as well as their time spent counting and distance traveled. Each group will have a designated route to ensure no overlap in counts. Why you will love it
You'll be joining tens of thousands of birders across North America in contributing to a 100+ year effort to collect consistent information on winter bird distribution. This information is also important for conservation strategies on the Valley View, Big Valley, and Colvin properties. Not to mention spending a day watching birds, meeting new people and exploring!Questions?
