Don’t be Hawkward, Help us Find Hawks!
May 3rd, 2018, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Inventories and Monitoring
Come out and help us look for hawks! NCC is partnering with the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment to help contribute to this Threatened bird’s population census. The Ferruginous Hawk found on the Canadian grasslands have suffered a 64% decline in population from 1992 to 2005 due to the loss, degradation and fragmentation of its native grassland habitat. These surveys will contribute to the province-wide Ferruginous Hawk census which will help contribute to the conservation of this species.
Note: The survey window is now open! We will be conducting the surveys on May 3rd in Avonlea, and May 4th in Weyburn. Previous experience is not necessary!
Carpooling: If you’re interested in carpooling to one of the two meeting locations with other volunteers (driving, or catching a ride) please click here and add your car, or join a car. There’s also a wait list feature if there’s no car listed yet where you’re traveling from. Happy travels!
