The East Shoal Lake property is comprised of 640 acres within the Interlake Natural Area and is located on the southeast edge of the North, West, and East Shoal Lakes Important Bird Area. The property is characterized by a ridge and swale topography, supporting prairie and aspen-oak woodlands on the dry ridges, and marsh in the lowlands. The uplands provide habitat for a number of uncommon grassland and woodland birds, while the extensive wetlands support large colonies of shorebirds and waterfowl. What you will be doing
Join us as we survey the area for bird species. Volunteers will go out in groups to identify and count bird species on NCC's East Shoal Lake project, and the surrounding IBA areas. Why you will love it
Treat yourself to a morning watching birds, meeting new people, and exploring! This is a great opportunity to learn more about birds and to contribute to a monitoring project. All levels of experience are welcome. Novice birders can gain some birding skills as they pair up with more experienced birders during the survey.Questions?
