Join us on a free bus ride from Red Deer to our Ferrier property where you can learn more about NCC, see our property first hand, and help take down fences to make the property more wildlife friendly! The bus will depart from Deer Park Alliance Church at 8:30AM and return by 5PM. Enjoy the fresh air, meet new people and a free sandwich lunch!
Please email the event contact to join the waiting list.
The Ferrier property was graciously left to NCC in Nancy Ferrier’s will. In January 2017, thanks to the generous support of public and private donors, NCC was able to officially complete the securement project.
On the northwestern shore of Gough lake, lies 1,467 acres (594 ha.) of native grasslands, forests and wetlands. These diverse conditions attract a wide range of species, including prairie loggerhead shrike, western tiger salamander and porcupine.
NCC acquired the Ferrier property with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada. What you will be doing
You will remove fencing staples and creating barbed-wire rolls to take down the barbwire fences on the property. Fewer fences allow wildlife to move through the property more easily and prevents injury! Why you will love it
Participate in this stewardship action free of worries. We provide free transportation from Red Deer and a free sandwich lunch! Come out to hear the silent thank-yous from the wildlife you will help!Questions?
