Gaff Point Trailblazers

Event Details

July 15th, 2017, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Gaff Point (Kingsburg), Nova Scotia
Infrastructure / Site Cleanup

Gaff Point is a beautiful 6 km hike with great views of the ocean. In order to maintain the trails for hikers, we are asking for your help to come out and be true trail blazers! We will be restoring areas of the trails which are a little worse for wear so make sure to bring your energy and elbow grease!

If you’d like to carpool to the event, please click here, to add your car or join a ride going to the event. There is also a wait list feature if there isn’t a ride there yet that works for you. Happy carpooling!

About Gaff Point (Kingsburg)

This 101 acre (41 ha.) nature reserve is a mosaic of landscapes, connecting conifer forests, wetlands, beaches, cliffs, sand dunes and grasslands. As the link between two protected beach-dune systems, Gaff Point supports a vast range of biodiversity, including river otters, red fox and the endangered monarch butterfly. Based in Nova Scotia’s popular South Shore, its rustic trails wind through cool, quiet forests and pass scenic views of the ever-changing edge of the sea.

What you will be doing

The type of work will vary from light branch pruning and trail clearing, to moving rocks, laying wood and hammering at walkways to maintain this beautiful trail.

Why you will love it

The rustic trails of this nature preserve wind through cool, quiet forests and along the ever-changing edge of the sea. The beauty and accessibility of Gaff Point make it a favoured destination for local residents and visitors alike. We look forward to your help, and the gorgeous views!
