This 355 hectare (875 ac.) property, located in the Cooking Lake Moraine just 30 km southeast of Edmonton, is jointly owned and operated by the Nature Conservancy of Canada and its partners. Made up of mature aspen, open grasslands and internationally recognized wetlands, the area attracts a wide range of wildlife, such as Canada warbler, moose, and red fox.
NCC acquired the Golden Ranches with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada. What you will be doing
Volunteers will be removing a barbed wire fence that is in disrepair and creating a hazard for wildlife. This will be a strenuous task but many hands make light work! Plus you will be rewarded with a pile of wire and baked berry-licious creations at the end of the day.Why you will love it
It is berry season! Not only will you be helping the local wildlife, you will get to enjoy and judge delicious baked berry treats made by each staff member. May the ultimate NCC Berry Baker be crowned champion!Questions?
