Knot this time!
November 21st, 2019, 10:00 AM - 3:00 AM
Hicks Property, (Hastings Lake), Alberta
Come on out as we join forces with the Edmonton & Area Land Trust and say knot this time to black knot!
Black knot is a fungal disease that attacks the branches of plum and cherry trees. If uncontrolled the disease can strangle new growth and result in deterioration of the tree. A patch of the disease has been identified on the Hicks property. Together we will remove branches that have been infected to prevent further spread of the disease. Why knot lend a hand and help remove black knot!

The Hicks property contributes 149 acres (60 ha.) of native aspen/poplar forest to a network of parks and private conservation projects within the region, just 10 km south of Hastings Lake. Featuring rolling hills and scattered wetlands, the area hosts an abundance of wildlife, including elk, American beaver and wood frog. Hicks also provides the public with a convenient trail system to get out and enjoy nature in a low-impact way.
NCC acquired the Hicks property with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada. What you will be doing
