Inventories and Monitoring
Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Manitoba Conservation Data Centre and local experts for an afternoon of bio-blitzing on one of Manitoba’s rarest ecosystems – Alvar. This event is one of many bioblitzes taking place across Canada as part of the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s BioBlitz Canada 150 initiative.
All levels of expertise and ages are welcome to participate! More information about this event and BioBlitz Canada 150 can be found here: http://bioblitzcanada.ca/.
If you are an expert and would be interested in leading a group or being teamed up with beginners during the public event, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The event will take place in the Interlake, near Hodgson, Manitoba, on public lands locally known as Marble Ridge.
Alvar is a plant community that is found in very shallow soil over limestone bedrock. It supports a unique complement of species, some of which are rare across Canada. Alvar itself is rare all across the world and is listed as Endangered under Manitoba’s Endangered Species and Ecosystems Act.What you will be doing
