Inventories and Monitoring
Join us Sept-timber 15 fir a fun afternoon of tree surveying! In 2014 volunteers put in a treemendous amount of effort to plant over 2,500 native shrubs and trees on the property to spruce up wildlife corridors. We need your help to conduct a survey of the vegetation to assess the overall health and success of the plantings. No experience required, it’s as easy as one-two-tree! NCC staff will provide instruction and guidance for volunteers. This is a great opportunity to get outside and learn more about NCC and our work.
If you’d like to carpool to the event, please click here, to add your car or join a ride going to the event. Happy carpooling!

Secured in 2013, this 45 hectare (113 ac.) property is nestled along the north western shore of Pine Lake, roughly 30 km south east of Red Deer. Covered in wetlands, lakefront beaches, grasslands and aspen-balsam-poplar forests, the area provides habitat to a diversity of wildlife, including yellow-bellied sapsucker, mule deer, coyote and moose. Acting as breeding and staging grounds for migrating waterfowl, this high-priority conservation project connects with surrounding conserved lands to form a larger network of protected habitats. What you will be doing
Under the guidance of staff, volunteers will divide into groups and assess the health of newly planted vegetation around the property. Why you will love it
