Event Details

October 28th, 2016, 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Connop property, Millarville, Alberta
Infrastructure / Site Cleanup

It’s out with the old and in with the new, take four! Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada as we head back to our Connop Millarville property to remove the last sections of double fence line to reduce hazards to wildlife. October can be chilly, so we’ve arranged a special thank you for your hard work and dedication to nature. NCC staff will be hosting their 3rd Annual Chili Cook-off at lunch, and we need you to be the judge!

Please specify any dietary restrictions/allergies you may have within the registration form so event coordinators are aware and can do their best to accommodate.

If you’d like to carpool to the event, please click here, https://www.groupcarpool.com/t/wx0p5f to add your car or join a ride going to the event. There is also a wait list feature if there isn’t a ride there yet that works for you. Happy carpooling!

Please email the event contact to join the waiting list.

More Information

About Connop property, Millarville

Just a short trip outside of Calgary, this property is home to moose, elk and a variety of bird species, including the iconic mountain bluebird. The Connop family, who originally owned the property, began ranching in the Bragg Creek area in 1919, acquiring this piece of land in 1960 before donating it to the Nature Conservancy of Canada so it can be forever preserved through conservation.

What you will be doing

The fencing on this property was recently upgraded to new wildlife-friendly standards, but the new fence was built right next to the old one, forming a double barrier for wildlife. In 2015, the majority of the old fence was removed with the help of volunteers, but we need your help removing the last of the old wire so we can complete this transformation and reduce hazards to wildlife on site.

Why you will love it

Join us for a day of important work and fun competition! Not only is this property located in the beautiful foothills of the Rocky Mountains, volunteers will also get the opportunity to take part in our annual NCC Staff Chili Cook Off! Need I say more?
