Backus Woods is a spectacular gem in the heart of Carolinian Canada. Comprising less than 1% of Canada’s land mass, Carolinian Canada is home to 25% of Canada’s population, contains some of Canada’s most productive agricultural lands and provides habitat for nearly 25% of Canada’s endangered species. What you will be doing
Garbage, such as bottles, balloons, and grocery bags accumulate along roadways every year and can pose a threat to plants and animals that call Backus Woods their home. You will join NCC staff to walk leisurely along the perimeter of Backus Woods and other Backus Block properties along Highway 24 and the East Quarter Line Road to pick up litter. Why you will love it
While seemingly unglamourous, garbage removal is a top priority for NCC, and the immediate results of this work is rewarding. Throughout the day you will also have the opportunity to learn about unique Carolinian Canada species such as the Tuliptree, American Badger, and others.Questions?
