More Information
The Cheakamus Centre has held a conservation covenant with NCC since 1997, which protects 420 acres (170 hectares) of lush coastal forest, spawning habitat for thousands of Pacific salmon, and some of the oldest western redcedars in BC. The Cheakamus Centre also serves as an educational facility in the Sea-to-Sky corridor, providing leadership and environmental learning opportunities for thousands of youth adults each year.
What you will be doingVolunteers will be helping by clearing the trails and laying down a fresh layer of woodchips, and removing invasive plants.
Why you will love itThis is a chance to contribute to the ongoing stewardship efforts required to maintain this ecologically significant area. Volunteer events like this is one of the few ways the public can access this beautiful property, since the centre's lands are not typically open to the public.
