More Information
Stony Mountain Prairie Preserve is an eight-acre (three-hectare) property donated by the Regional Municipality of Rockwood. The preserve is located on the top of the Stony Mountain escarpment. It features a unique oasis of grasses and flowers common to the native tall grass and mixed grass prairies that used to cover the region.
What you will be doingPathfinders will be learning to girdle aspen trees using hand tools. We will also learn to use GPS units to help create maps of the work that will be completed.
Why you will love itPathfinders will get up close and personal with prairie conservation, contributing to a project in their own region!
