Habitat Restoration
Come help remove invasive garlic mustard from the Carolinian forest! Invasive species are currently threatening the health of the plants and animals that live on the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Lathrop property, and we need your help with their eviction! Join us and pull invasive garlic mustard before it has a chance to go to seed and spread this summer.
Carpooling: If you’re interested in carpooling with other volunteer (driving or catching a ride) please click here and add your car, or join a car. There’s also a wait list feature if there’s no car listed yet where you’re traveling from. Happy travels!

More Information
The Lathrop property is situated within one of the largest forested tracts in the Niagara Peninsula section of the Escarpment. Forest cover on the property protects the headwaters of Twelve Mile Creek, which supports the last remaining brook trout population in the Niagara Region. The forest cover also continues almost unbroken to Short Hills Provincial Park to the north. The property supports several species considered rare in Ontario and Canada, including butternut and American chestnut.
What you will be doingVolunteers will work together to remove invasive garlic mustard from the Carolinian forests of the Nature Conservancy of Canada's Lathrop conservation property. Participants will pull the garlic mustard (activity involves bending and kneeling), making space for native plants to thrive.
Why you will love itNot only will you escape the office and enjoy a day outside, you'll also be directly supporting local conservation by removing these invasive plants and making space for native plants to thrive!
