More Information

About Gambling Lake (Lindbrook)

Gambling Lake is an ecologically diverse, 63 hectare (150 ac.) property just north of Miquelon Lake provincial park that features mixed boreal forests, shrublands, grasslands, lake shores and wetlands. The area’s extensive wetlands provide habitat for a diversity of waterfowl, including blue-winged teal, American wigeon, northern pintail, lesser scaup and bufflehead. Even trumpeter swans, considered endangered in Alberta until July 2014, have been spotted on the property!

NCC acquired the Gambling Lake property with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada.

What you will be doing

Volunteers will work together to plant native flowers and herbs as part of a pollinator restoration project taking place on the property.

Why you will love it

Not only will volunteers have the opportunity to learn about this pollinator restoration project, they will also have the chance to perform a pollinator survey or go for a walk to the shoreline of Gambling Lake to try and spot a variety of waterfowl!
