Tidying Turtle River Marshes: Clean-up and Picnic
October 13th, 2018, 11:00 AM - 2:30 AM
Turtle River Marshes, Manitoba
Infrastructure / Site Cleanup
Join us for this great chance to help nature: enjoy a picnic lunch and help tidy up the shores of Dauphin Lake and the Turtle River!
After the end of a busy fishing season, garbage and old fishing line can pose a threat to the numerous waterfowl and other wildlife that live in the marshes where Turtle River flows into Dauphin Lake. Come help get the marshes ready for a safe winter and spring by cleaning up the riverbanks and lakeshore of our Turtle River Marshes property.
Carpooling: If you’re interested in carpooling to the property with other volunteers, please click here and add your car, or join a car. (There’s also a wait list feature if there’s no car listed yet where you’re traveling from.) Happy travels!
The Turtle River Marshes project is located at the mouth of the Turtle River where it enters Dauphin Lake. The property supports a substantial marsh system, which provides important breeding, foraging, and staging habitat for waterfowl and colony nesting birds.
NCC acquired Turtle River Marshes with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada. What you will be doing
