Will-ow You Lend a Hand?
October 30th, 2018, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Campbell (Lindbrook), Alberta
Will-ow you lend a hand in support of wetland health?
Join us as we head out to the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC) Campbell conservation property for a hands-on day, planting willow stakes. This property is home to a number of small wetlands, which provide habitat for a diversity of waterfowl and wildlife that frequent the property. By planting willows in strategic locations along these wetlands, you will help to improve the health of these areas and the overall quality of habitat in the region.
If you’d like to carpool to the event, please click here to add your car or join a ride going to the event. There is also a wait list feature if there isn’t a ride there yet that works for you. Happy carpooling!
Please email the event contact to join the waiting list.
The Campbell Property consists of 65 hectares (160 ac.) of land, which host an excellent example of the boreal mixed wood forests of the Cooking Lake Moraine. Its trembling aspen and balsam poplar forest surrounds several small wetlands, where species like the horned grebe, wood frog, American beaver and moose can be spotted. Located 10 km southwest from Lindbrook, the area is directly northeast of the Ministik Game Bird Sanctuary and within the UNESCO Beaver Hills Biosphere Reserve. What you will be doing
Volunteers will plant live willow stakes along the edge of the existing wetlands, in an effort to improve the health of local habitat. If we finish early, we may also tackle some additional stewardship tasks! Why you will love it
The Collins property is located within the scenic Beaverhill Biosphere Reserve. Enjoy the beautiful views and keep an eye out for some of the wildlife that frequents the property!Questions?
