Backus Woods South Access

Backus Woods is a spectacular gem in the heart of Carolinian Canada. Comprising less than 1% of Canada’s land mass, Carolinian Canada is home to 25% of Canada’s population, contains some of Canada’s most productive agricultural lands and provides habitat for nearly 25% of Canada’s endangered species. Beautiful Backus Woods offers almost endless trails. Walk through mature Carolinian forest with a large diversity of trees, including many tulip trees. Listen for and perhaps glimpse hooded warblers and woodthrush. This area also provides habitat for eastern hognosed snake and eastern foxsnake. Species ID signs are found along trails throughout the forest to enhance your visit.
