Brown Property (Tofield)

Located just 10 km southwest of Tofield, the Brown property holds 130 hectares (320 ac.) of active wetland and aspen parkland habitat. Recognized under the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) as an important staging and breeding site for migratory waterfowl and shorebirds, the area hosts species such as the horned grebe, sora and bobolink. In 2011, NCC partnered with Ducks Unlimited Canada to restore wetlands in areas formerly modified for agriculture.

NCC acquired the Brown property with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada.
