About 15 km east of Kimberley, west of the Kootenay River, lies Cherry Meadows: a beautiful area characterized by broad grasslands, coniferous forests and a meandering creek. This 70 hectare (172.5 ac.) property is home to grizzly bears, American badgers, short-eared owls, kokanee salmon and western painted turtles. Cherry Meadows was generously donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada in 2014 by Carol and Walter Latter.
