Fyten-Lea (Big Valley)

Located 14 km west of Big Valley, this 50 hectare (121 ac.) property is a part of more than 3,100 hectares (7,640 ac.) of conserved lands in the Red Deer River natural area. Holding some of the highest density of intact parkland in central Alberta, these unique badlands and riparian riverbanks provide habitat for a diversity of wildlife, including moose, American beaver and a group of turkey vultures, often observed by our field staff.

NCC acquired Fyten-Lea with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada.
