Grand Manan Migratory Bird Sanctuary Nature Reserve (Deep Cove)

Nestled in the Bay of Fundy, this 238 hectare (589 ac.) project features coastal wetlands, rocky shorelines, and balsam fir forests, on the island of Grand Manan. As a part of both a globally significant Important Bird Area and the federal Grand Manan Island Migratory Bird Sanctuary, the area provides vital habitat for more than 350 species of birds, including the endangered red knot.

NCC acquired Grand Manan with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada
