Haugan (Manyberries)

This 509 hectare (1,258 ac.) property lies in the heart of Alberta’s grasslands in the Pakowki Lake Natural Area, just outside the Hamlet of Manyberries. Made up of  silver sagebrush, salt grass and crested wheatgrass communities, the area provides habitat for at-risk species such as the burrowing owl, swift fox and most notably, the greater sage grouse.

NCC acquired the Haugan property with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada.
