Kettle Hut 03

The Kettlehut Lake 3 Property is located in the Missouri Coteau NA, along the west side of the Thunder Creek Valley and encompasses a portion of west shore. The diverse grassland and coulee habitats of Kettlehut 03 are home to many species of passerine birds.  The marsh habitat of Kettlehut Lake, immediately adjacent to the south of the property, is utilized by breeding dabbling ducks, many prairie nesting shorebirds, as well as colonial species such as Franklin’s Gull (Leucophaeus pipixcan) and Forster’s Tern (Sterna forsteri) which accounts for as much as 2.3% of the national population.
