Maymont Complex (North Battleford)

The Maymont properties are located along the southern shore of the North Saskatchewan River in the Aspen Parkland ecoregion. This group of cohesively managed properties represents approximately 2400 acres (970 ha) of land characterized by a mosaic of fescue grassland, shrubland and aspen forests within the Aspen Parkland ecoregion. Overall, the land is gently sloping towards the North Saskatchewan River, with open and closed aspen communities dominating the riverfront, and transitioning to mostly native prairie uplands interspersed with pockets of shrub and tree cover and small wetlands. These natural lands help to provide a landscape buffer between the river and nearby farmland. The native grasslands are dominated by Rough Fescue, wheatgrasses, Western Porcupine Grass and Prairie Junegrass. Wildlife species observed in the area include Moose, Long-tailed Weasel, Northern Harrier, Green-winged Teal, Sprague’s Pipit, and Wood Frogs.
