Altogether, the Wideview properties encompass 1,917 acres (775 ha.) of mixed grasslands in the Milk River Basin. The area has been nationally recognized as an Ecologically Significant Region (ESR) and a Grasslands Priority Conservation Area (GPCA), hosting sensitive species like swift fox, black-tailed prairie dogs and the endangered greater sage-grouse. NCC will continue to work closely with Grasslands National Park to secure a buffer zone and protected corridor surrounding the area.
NCC acquired Wideview with the assistance of the Government of Canada’s Natural Areas Conservation Program (NACP), a unique public-private partnership to accelerate the pace of land conservation across southern Canada.
